BREAKING NEWS: Natalia Cotilla Faces Vote of No Confidence Triggered by National-Liberal MPs

Sources high in the leadership of the National-Liberal Alliance confirm that 8 MPs have written strongly worded letters each stating their no-confidence in Cotilla as leader of the party.
Under the rules of the National-Liberal Alliance, at least one-third of its MPs are needed to call into question the leadership of its leader. With 8 MPs and a parliamentary caucus of 23 seats, the threshold has been met.
The next step is a secret ballot of all the National-Liberal MPs where she will need to secure a majority to stay on.

Natalia Cotilla Resigns as Leader of the National-Liberal Alliance

PUNTA SANTIAGO, ALDURIA -- Former Prime Minister Natalia Cotilla has announced her resignation as leader of the National-Liberal Alliance.
The internal secret ballot, conducted among members of the National-Liberal Alliance caucus, ended with 16 MPs out of 23 voting for her ouster. Ms. Cotilla was not able to secure a majority to prevent her exit.
The leadership of the National-Liberal Alliance has announced that a contest shall begin immediately to fill the position while Ms. Cotilla remains as a caretaker leader. Upon election of the new leader, Cotilla would then exit the leadership. It is not clear if she will resign her seat in Parliament.
Ms. Cotilla served as the first Prime Minister of Alduria, during the Transitional Government from 1669 to her defeat in the elections of 1672.
Cotilla presided over a steep electoral loss for the parliamentary party as Castillo won reelection under the same banner by double-digit margins.

MARCO ZIMMER TAKES THE REINS OF THE DFL
Punta Santiago, Alduria -- The DFL National Meeting has chosen Valenciana MP Marco Zimmer as the new leader of the leftist political collective.
Nadya Camille Albert commented, "The party is uniting behind a new leader, and we're thrilled to see the first of a new generation of leaders take the reins of the party. I support Mr. Zimmer wholeheartedly."
Mr. Zimmer won the balloting in a four-way race. The interim leader Nadya Camille Albert did not participate in the election and endorsed Zimmer early in the primary.

Punta Santiago, Alduria -- Sources high in the leadership of the LDP and the DFL have confirmed to Newsflash that coalition negotiations have reopened.
The sources, anonymous due to the sensibility of the matter, confirm that with the election of Marco Zimmer as the DFL's new leader, the circumstances for the party changed and it led to renewed talks between both parties.
A senior adviser to the DFL's Zimmer, while drunk, further confirmed the information from our sources saying, "So the coalition deal is looking good as well. Things are on the up."
An LDP senior adviser also confirmed separately, "Talks are promising, though could still go either way. We are working hard to hammer out a coalition that lives up to our promises and values and respects the will of our voters. So far, we have been making process forging compromises to help the people of Alduria."

PUNTA SANTIAGO, ALDURIA -- Negotiations between party leaders and officials from the Liberty & Democracy Party and the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party have reached the basis of a coalition government in a tentative coalition deal, sources confirm.
It would be the second coalition government led by the LDP and Prime Minister Alfonzo Velez.
The unexpectedly fast preliminary agreement would require further steps including finding common ground on legislation and policy and apportioning on who gets what position in the cabinet.
Under the leadership of interim leader Nadya Camille Albert, the DFL had clinched a confidence and supply agreement with a minority government led by Velez. DFL party officials were not happy with the resulting arrangement, claiming that the deal she secured was not a good one. - Pro-Raspur Pact demonstrations in Punta Santiago, Narbonne, and Susa: A combined 98,000 Aldurians, mostly of Alexandrian, Shirerithian, and Caputian descent, have come out in the cities of Punta Santiago, Narbonne, and Susa to demonstrate their support for Alduria joining the Raspur Pact. Motivated by the entry of Krasnocoria on the side of Francia and against Ransenar in the Second Amokolian War, protestors are clamoring for Alduria to join the alliance and repudiate relationships with USSO nations and "Vanic sympathizers". Calls for a total boycott of all Krasnocorian products and companies in Alduria was announced by the protesters.
- Aldurian party leaders join post-election debate: The leaders of the three largest political parties will be facing off in a debate tonight that asks 17 questions, ranging from immigration to foreign affairs. The debate is seen by many as an opportunity for the new DSP leader to introduce himself to voters. Others believe it will only confirm the dominance of right-wing parties in Aldurian politics.

PUNTA SANTIAGO, ALDURIA -- Robert Beaumont has been elected leader of the Aldurian National Alliance after the shock resignation of Atanasio Paredes early in the week.
His election by the party faithful of the ANA exposed a newly emerging rift between the social conservative and anti-immigration elements in the party versus those who prefer that the party focus on issues that are of greater importance to the people.

- Ferdinand Johnson, president of the Bank of Alduria, launched a year-long strategy review. It will consider whether changes to the monetary policy toolkit are needed to revive growth in the Aldurian economy, insulate the Aldurian economy from the ongoing recession in trade partner Ransenar, and help the bank maintain price stability. Mr. Johnson is also keen to assess whether tilting Alduria's financial system towards green assets fits the bank’s mandate.
