Resignation of the Prime Minister & Velez Government - Alfonso Velez - 04-12-2020 Mr. President, I hereby tender my resignation as Prime Minister and also submit the resignation of the Government's Cabinet members. As my final act, I formally advise you to appoint Mr. Marco Zimmer of the DSP as Prime Minister. Mr. Zimmer and his party has obtained a plurality in the latest General Election, and I believe that he is likely to command sufficient confidence in Parliament to form a Government. It has been my highest honour to have served this Republic as Prime Minister for the past decade. I look forward to continuing to working with you in other capacities as I transition into the role of Leader of the Opposition.  God Save the Republic! Sincerely, Prime Minister
