MARKETS STABILIZE, REMAIN CAUTIOUS AS ZIMMER MOVES TO REASSURE

PUNTA SANTIAGO, ALDURIA -- Shares in the Aldurian Stock Index have stabilized and are set to make some modest gains after a recent address by Prime Minister Zimmer that sought a difficult balance of reassuring the markets while throwing a bone to the Aldurian left.

In a special address, the Prime Minister reassured markets that "I will not nationalise everything left right and centre", but still affirmed that "health care, water, oil, and education" will be nationalized.

"Overall, my message to the market is, things will be different yes. But that doesn’t mean the alternative approach we will bring won’t be better. I want a fairer country, but we can’t do that without a strong economy. So I ask businesses to support us while we are in government and see what benefits it can bring to everyone. So we have a fairer Alduria, for all," said the Prime Minister.

Despite all the fanfare from a chorus of left-wing pundits and political activists, Zimmer and his government has begun to quietly signal to business and policymakers that he will invest in the productive sectors, reign in corruption, and get austere with the government spending he deems useless to running the country.

“It turns out he’s going to try to be a fiscal conservative. He's painted grand plans but now he's facing the reality of governance, and with a minority government, he may not have much of a choice. Maybe the market should give him more credit for that,” says Jean Halton, senior portfolio manager for Alduria Investment Management (AIM), one of the nation's biggest investment advising companies.

Moreover, the Aldurian economy is expected to expand at a moderate pace. The outlook for corporate earnings growth in 1683-1684 remains strong, according to AIM analysts.
